The Alpaga opened in 2009. But is it a hotel or group of châlets? Turns out, both. It has 27 rooms and suites, nine interconnected châlets and two restaurants (one with two Michelin stars) – all clustered in their own little hamlet just above the heart of Megève. The sun streams in the large balconied bedrooms with paneled walls, faux fur, rich fabrics, slate floors, granite baths, and all with views of Mont Blanc. Additionally they have a spa with a large pool, Nordic bath, sauna, gym, in-house ski service with a ski shuttle and, yes, if you’re too tired to walk to town, the car awaits.
