The Caprice opened in 1990 and returns to our program. It has the most convenient location in town: a 2-minute walk in the morning down to your train. Then literally it’s at trail’s end when your skiing day is over. All but a few of the 21 rooms and suites have balconies peering out to the “Three Sisters” Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, the guardians of the precipitous Lauterbrunnen Valley below. The well-appointed alpine paneled rooms were renovated in 2019 with an Italian flair and some have whirlpool baths perhaps to soothe our aches from a day’s skiing. Those aches can also be eased by their Kneipp bath reflexology, sauna, and steam bath facilities. Its restaurant serves delicious Italian cuisine, and all is managed, including their fine kitchen, by chef, Floris van der Spek.
